Jochen Ulmer does not simply want to paint what he sees – rather, he tries to express his impressions and what he felt in a place with shapes and colors. The painting "Secrets Down by the River," for example, does without blue. The dominant colors are yellow and orange, because Jochen Ulmer particularly remembers the shimmering sun from that hot day in California.
